3 Tips to Help You Sleep Better

Everyone suffers from a sleepless night once in a while. But for some people, this is a regular occurrence, and can seriously affect their quality of life during the day, leaving them feeling tired, irritable, and lacking in focus. If you suffer from these symptoms, it is time to take action. The following tips will help you get to sleep more easily, and stay asleep until the morning.

1. Don’t Take Any Stimulants

Many people like to have a warm drink at night. Unfortunately, more often than not this is coffee, which is a stimulant, and so will make it harder to get to sleep. If you like to have a drink before bed, have something other than coffee – a mug of warm milk or tea is a much better option, since these will actually help your body to relax, making it easier to sleep.

2. Make A List

If you often go to bed with problems from your day whizzing around your head, then you will know how difficult it can be to get to sleep while you’re worrying about something. Before going to bed, take a pad and pen and write down all the things that are bothering you. Then make a decision to empty your mind of them, and deal with them in the morning when you can actually do something about them.

3. Take Time To Unwind

It is common to be very busy right up until you go to bed. Whether this be with work, chores, or errands, many people are on the go until very late at night. The human body needs time to adapt and get into a relaxed state – you can’t expect to fall asleep just minutes after rushing around busily. Make an effort to spend at least an hour before bed simply relaxing. Reading a book is perfect because it quiets your mind and helps to rid your body of tension.

By following these simple steps you should find that you are better able to prepare your body and mind for a good night’s sleep. As a result, you will also improve the quality of your waking hours, and of your life in general.
