Choosing a Bathroom Sink for Your Home
You can choose from different types of bathroom sinks to use for your bathroom. Each type will suit particular types of bathrooms. The size of the bathroom, the people who will use it, and your decorating style are the things you should consider when choosing a bathroom sink. The different types of bathroom sinks include the vanity sinks, pedestal sinks, vessel sinks, and console sinks.
If the sink is within a cabinet, you call that a vanity sink. Vanity sinks can be commonly installed using drop in and under mount methods. When the vanity sink fits into a hole cut into the counter top, then we say that it is a drop in vanity sink. If the counter top you are using does not have finished edges then this type of installation is used. This is because the sink will hide the cut edges of the counter.
We use under mount installation for granite or marble countertops that have finished edges. The sink is mounted under the counters so that the sides of the counter can be seen where the hole has been cut. If you have a large bathroom where you will need storage, these sinks are the best.

If you have a small bathroom, you can use a pedestal sink. It is on a single pedestal that the sink sits. They are often made of porcelain or marble and are all one piece rather than a sink that sits on top of a table of stand. There is not much storage under pedestal sinks. This is the best sink for a powder room in a foyer or somewhere there is no need of storage of bathroom grooming items is necessary.
Vessel sinks sit on top of a counter. Most of vessels sinks are round bowl shaped vessels but the basin can be any size or shape. It is not only bowls that are popular, there are also popular square basins. Materials for vessel sinks include glass, stone, or metal. Most modern homes use vessel sinks since these sinks are very trendy. Any bathroom that has counter space can use a vessel sink.
For small bathrooms, console sinks are appropriate since they help to open up a space and make it seem larger than it is. A console sink sits on a countertop that is connected to the wall at the back and there are two front legs that support it. There is open space underneath which can be used for storage baskets. If your bathroom is decorated in light colors and soft tones, then a console sink is ideal for your bathroom.
These are just some of the common and popular types of sinks used for different types of bathrooms.
